When connected with a verbal participle it expresses a continued action, as செய்துகொண்டு போகிறான், he is doing. As an auxiliary verb is shows the completion of an action, or event, as இறந்துபோனான், he is dead. போவ is used in poetry for போக, and போம் for போகும். The gerund is போகி or போய்; the infinitive போக, is used in the sense of deducting, subtracting, &c., as ஆறிலேஇரண்டுபோக, six minus two. போனதுபோகட்டும். Let the past go, let by-gones be by-gones. போகிறேனென்றுபோயிற்று. It is gone by, lost. போனமுயல்பெரியமுயல். The hare that is gone is a great one, i. e. lost possessions are exaggerated. போகிறவருகிறபேர்கள்–வருவார்போவார். People passing and repassing. போய்வருகிறேன். Adieu, good-by; (lit.) "I go and return," it being deemed inauspicious, to say merely "I go."– A polite way of dismissing a visitor. போய்வாரும். Good-by; (lit.) go and come. உனக்குப்பயன்போகுமோ.
