நெய்தற்கருப்பொருள் — Men, beasts, and other living creatures, things, and employments, peculiar to maritime tracts viz.: 1. நெய்தலியாழ், lute, known by the name of விளரி. 2. நெய்தலுணவு, food, fishes, lobsters, &c. 3. நெய்தலூர், villages, as பட்டினம், பாக்கம். 4. நெய்தல் விலங்கு, the சுறா fish, Squalus carcharias. 5. நெய்தற்பண், melody, செவ்வழிப்பண். 6. நெய்தற்பறை, drum, as பம்பை, &c. 7. நெய்தற்புள், birds, the water-crow, &c. 8. நெய்தற்றலைவர், chiefs, heads, &c., with their females, as சேர்ப்பன், புலம்பன். 9. நெய்தற்றெய்வம், the god Varun'a. 10. நெய்தற்றொழில், professions, as fishing, salt making, &c. 11. நெய்தற்பூ, flowers, as the fragrant flower of Pandanus deratissima, &c. 12. நெய்தல்மரம், trees, as the silk-cotton tree, &c. 13. நெய்தல் மாக்கள், inhabitants, as fishermen, salt-makers, &c. 14. நெய்தல்நீர், water as the sea.
